I Helped Someone Survive – Non-profit Organization
I’m waiting on a local charity, which has offered to help me financially. A charity that is close to my heart, a charity that will help me survive. However, it’s a new organization and they are still awaiting “non-profit” status from the Federal government.
The name of the organization is “I Helped Someone Survive”.
To-date (April 22 2009) the status of “I Helped Someone Survive”, as I have been informed:
* Approval has been received from the State of Texas to use the name “I Helped Someone Survive” as a business. Now it’s a matter of waiting for the Tax ID number, this should be several more weeks. After the Tax ID is received, the paperwork will be submitted to the Federal Gov’t for non-profit approval. This process with the Federal Gov’t will take 4-6 months. Things move so slow…
* Until “I Helped Someone Survive” (IHSS) receives the Tax ID, they are not able to receive donations, nor to give a tax receipt. After the TX ID is received, they will be able to receive donations, but not able to give a tax receipt at that particular time. However, tax receipts will be able to be sent up to 15 months after a donation is received, and since the non-profit designation should be received within 4-6 months, any donations received during that 4-6 month waiting period will be logged as “tax receipt” due” and a receipt sent within a timely fashion as soon as the non-profit designation is approved.
* The IHSS website will offer merchandise for donations – teeshirts, caps, etc. These items are being provided by a local (Spring, Texas) printing business, Screaming Tees (http://www.screamingtees.com).
* The website for IHSS is http://www.IHelpedSomeoneSurvive.org and will officially be “up” and able to receive donations when the TX ID number is received.
Until “I Helped Someone Survive” is able to receive donations, please consider donating directly to my cause, there’s a “Donate” button located on my front page (http://teamdenise.org/)
