Side Effects?

I woke this morning
with numbness of
my chest
and left arm
and a headache
that has not diminished
all day
despite Tylenol
and then
meds
heavy meds
I have taken

I did some labor intensive work
around the house this morning
and the numbness left
but the headache has not

The headache increased to
near debilitating
my head
as though
in a vise
my eyes
difficult to focus

I have spent the afternoon
and into this evening
laying down
medicated

Though these are not the usual side effects
I’ve had from the Zometa infusion –
the flu-like aches -
they are listed as possible common side effects, so
I am hoping these are
side effects of Zometa
and not
something else….

It Just Can’t Be So…

I recently stumbled across the blog of another patient of Burzynski Clinic – Margaret Manning of Arizona.

This lucky woman is seemingly Without One Complaint about side effects or reactions to her meds.

WTHeck??
Is she not having Any symptoms??  Just “good results”?

It’s a little disheartening to me, since I’m dealing with gas, cramps, diaherra, acne, body rash, muscle and joint pain, balance issues, fatigue, exhaustion, insomnia, mouth and tongue sores, splitting of the skin of my fingers and toes and lips, nails separating from nailbed, etc etc etc.

All she seems to need to worry about is finances, which I can Totally relate to.  Even so, she has had two $10,000 donations and one $5,000 donation.  Wow… That’s Awesome.

She has a wonderful – and irritating – positive attitude about everything. And I don’t mean “irritating” in that I wish her ill – Not At All!! “Irritating” in that she has all this support and can be so chipper…Yes, I do try to stay positive, but I would be lying if I didn’t say that it’s difficult. Especially since I am alone in this.

She is a fellow Warrior, she is a fellow Burzynski patient and I wish her The Best of results! I guess I’m just a bit jealous of her ease…

Guess I really should stop whining now…

One Day…

I have no doubt that one day, dealing with cancer will be nothing more than a minor “inconvenience”.

I don’t know if I will live to see this, but it would be nice to think that I will…

Hair – Growing Back!

My hair is growing back… will be interesting to see if there are any changes.  Supposedly that can – usually does – happen after chemo.  But since I chose not to complete the full chemo regime, I don’t know if changes will be apparent.  We’ll see.

Green Tea – Fighting Cancer

There’s some interesting info on green tea and the fight against cancer…  While it has long been touted as an anti-cancer agent, there is now evidence that it blocks at least one form of chemo

Green Tea Blocks Benefits Of Cancer Drug

In fact, the cancer-fighting benefits of green tea are now being questioned…

No Firm Evidence Green Tea Helps Prevent Cancer

Its just all so confusing, there’s so much info and even conflicting info.

Meanwhile, my life – and the lives of so many others – keep spinning out of control.

Hair Today, More Tomorrow

At least I’m HOPING so!

As I mentioned before, one thing “they” don’t tell you about chemo, is that you will – for the most part and cuz it looks and feels better – want to shave your head when you start to loose your hair.  At least I did.

I have actually enjoyed being bald, if it were not for the circumstances.  And I’m considering keeping my hair Very short for the time being, at least until this whole situation has some type of resolution..

I was told that chemo starts to “leave” my body after about 1 month, and I should start to “recover” after about 3 to 6 months.  My last chemo treatment was April 23, so I guess I’m lucky that my hair seems like it’s trying to come back “already”…

I have noticed that the hair under my arms has started to regrow, so I wanted to see just how well the hair on my head has recovered.

The last time I shaved my head was June 28…  and this is what I have so far…

Being Bald Now

Being bald now, i need to wear more make up and larger earrings

so i don’t look like an androgeneous egg head

The wigs i’ve tried have made my head toooo Hot

Most hats too

Scarves seems to be ok though they do slip around easily…

i’ll prob go bald most of the time

Thinking stick-on body decals and temp tattoos – to add some flair to the bald head

need to keep it light hearted
cuz my heart is so heavy.

ACT Program – Emend

There are many Patient Assistance Programs out there to help people like me, who don’t have health insurance, with the cost of medications.

One of these programs is Emend ACT = Accessing Coverage Today and it helps with the anti-nausea drug, Emend, that I’m supposed to take right before my chemo infusion, and the 2 days following each infusion.

Taking Emend.

How Emend works.

I can’t even imagine what people who took chemo before Emend had to endure, cuz even with Emend, it was really difficult for me…
