Listing

Dang… I have so much to think about now…

I’m so tired, emotionally spent.
Listing…

So much to do
So much to list…

* Have to contact the drug companies and update them…
Need to change my contact and mailing info and see how this unemployment affects my status and / or programs eligibility. Hopefully nothing to worry about.

* Check out unemployment, if I qualify.

Finding another job will be difficult due to my health situation. I often go in late cuz the mornings are difficult for me. Sometimes the headaches keep me up at night, or wake me up throughout the night; sometimes I get very little sleep, or I have to take sleeping aids so that my sleep is not real rest. I miss some work for Doctor appointments and have tests and procedures…

The meds have side effects like memory issues and balance problems and the Hand and Foot Syndrome has the tips of my fingers and toes ultra sensitive and splitting and I’m wearing band-aids and finger cots on my fingers.

I’ve applied for unemployment twice in my life, but never have collected cuz I always got a job before I got my benefits. This will be a new situation for me and not one that I am proud of.

* Need to get back onto Auctiva and start TeamDenise’s eBay account and start selling again.
I lost confidence in my selling in March of 2008. I need to get it back.

* Need to get my fundraiser project back on track.
Yes, I’m tired, yes I’m tired of feeling like a beggar… but it’s not getting done and I want to keep myself alive, so that means money. And there will be even less money than there was before, so I need to get out there and do it.

And
* Waiting for the results of my PET scan…
Scared of what they will showed. Hopeful, but so scared.

I’m so tired… but what can I do with this

RECAP: Fall 2009 Plant Swap

Although boardgames are my passion, I also dabble with plants.

Nothing serious, though I DO have more plants than I need to, especially now when my attention has been pulled from them and they are suffering from the lack of everything…

I especially like flowering plants – lilies, vines, etc.  and I am getting an appreciation of gingers.
Not that I need anything else to steal my attention or concentration.  I hve things to do that have been neglected.

Today was the Fall 2009 Plant Swap.  Same group that hosted and participated in the Spring 2009 Swap.

So… the Recap is pretty much the same, virtually the same event, different time of year.  Can count on a pleasant time.

Today was the Fall 2009 PlantMeet Plant Swap, held at Mercer Arboretum (North Houston area).  This event is a semi-annual gathering of “Planty People” who get together to swap plants, cuttings, seeds and general gardening items. The group which hosts this event is PlantMeet.com – Jennifer, Nadine and the PlantMeet group do a Fabulous job of organizing and pulling it all together, though Nadine was  not able to make this event.  There are also a couple of other groups that participate – Houston Plant Exchange (my plant group) and GardenWeb.  Actually, I believe that ANY person / plant group is invited to participate, it’s just about getting the word out.

So… I went and had fun.

A co-worker was supposed to come and host a table with plants for donations, but she never showed.

I had fun anyway.

There was a virtual Jungle of plants to browse through – it was Such A Fun and Pleasant event!! There were some Great plants swapped and some Generous people who gave without needing anything in return – That Is The Spirit of Plant People! It was Great to see everyone and I truly appreciated the planty gifts I received! We got to see “Old Friends” and got to meet some “New Friends” and have a Grand Time while doing so.

Nice to get out…

Fundraiser Update

What can I say – been working on my fundraiser

And doing stuff around the house…

Have all these BIG (fundraiser) cartons in my living room and den and all these pink items taking up virtually every available flat surface, while I am figuring out how to do what I need to do with this project…

But I Am figuring it out… two steps forward, one step back – as long as there is progress!

Working on it, working on the Fundraiser!!

Susan G. Komen Race 2009 – Houston

The Susan G. Komen Race 2009 is tomorrow.  I’ve been planning on attending, but when I woke up yesterday morning I had a sore throat, low grade fever (99.2) and swollen nodes in my throat.  I got to feeling better and felt better today, but THEN the gal I was supposed to ride with had Both of her kids get ill this evening, and I don’t have a back-up ride.  I can’t make the drive, long day and drive back alone, so looks like I’ll miss this.  Plus with the weather being as it is – moist, rainy, hottish - I don’t need to be out in it with my immune system low (due to the meds).

I’ll be There In Spirit, but home working on my fundraiser (and other stuff I need to do…)

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO WILL WALK, WHO VOLUNTEERED AND WHO GAVE.

Fundraiser Update…

Still working on my fundraiser

After many trial and errors, I decided that what I need to find is a supply for something called “dry rub” transfers to be able to make my own. I went online Presuming that I would find something here in Houston, but the best result I got was someplace in Canada.  With price and shipping was even cheaper than what the manufacturer sells for online.

What The Heck?

Canada??

This is Houston, Texas… HOUSTON.  We have Everything here.  I’m Sure I can find it, but I really don’t have the time to go traipsing all over Houston hoping to locate what I need, so I went ahead and ordered from Canada, a couple days ago.

Now I wait for delivery, and to see if it does the trick I hope for.

Fundraiser Update

Working on this Fundraiser is getting frustrating.  Its been a month, and I’m Still not ready to get it started, am Still just trying to get it together!

Not that I’m gonna stop, but there are issues that I have to find solutions for, and when I THINK I’ve got the solution, only find out that it’s Not Quite the solution I need.  So it Seems like I’m back to “square one”, even though I Know that I am making progress… just not fast enough.

I need to find some type of spray sealer for vinyl.  Everything I’ve tried so far either makes the vinyl sticky or causes (dried) ink to run.  I have several Friends who are helping with ideas, and I am searching the internet.  Its taking time…

I will be Sooooo glad when I can announce this!

Fundraiser – A Little (Info) Help From My Friends…

Dear Friends,

I have been blessed with an Awesome opportunity for a breast cancer fundraiser. It’s something that will fairly “easy” for me to work at, accomplish a lot and should be fun for everyone.  And if it’s successful, then I’ll have some financial breathing room… so I’m Really Excited!

I do, however, need some Help From My Friends…

I need names of celebrities; these people have to be alive and functioning. Examples –

* Actors, directors, comedians…
* Artists, comic book creators / designers…
* Athletes – swimming, tennis, gymnastics, track…
* Authors…
* Cooks…
* Couples…
* Entrepreneurs…
* Game designers…
* Musicians – any genre of music
* NASCAR…
* Newscasters and interviewers…
* Politicians…
* Rodeo…
* Scientists, inventors…
* Sports teams / players – football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer…
* TV Personalities…
* ETC, ETC, ETC!

If the person might be considered a bit obscure, please identify who it is.

I need a well-rounded list and thought this would be the best way to get variety.

If you know of someone and have a means to contact them, please mention this via a private email, if necessary (denise@TeamDenise.org).

Ok, let’s see what y’all can come up with!!

Much Thanks and More to Come,

denise

Hi Ho Hi Ho…

So, after reading through the blog of another patient of Burzynski Clinic, I see that she has had some good fundraiser activities.

My finances are starting to look bleak, since donations have really slowed down.  I’m not meaning to complain, cuz I’m *V*E*R*Y* Grateful to those who have donated to my cause.  But August depleted $6,490.00 from the fund ($4,620 for monthly meds, $1,200 for PET/CT scan, $360 for Bone Scan, $310 for Zometa infusion and monthly blood tests coming up at about $120), and that is just for one month.  So… not much is left.

When I started this blog, I was hoping for $1 from 150,000 – 200,000 generous people to help me to cover my expenses (treatment, surgery, radiation and hopefully reconstruction).  This is not money for a whim, to buy a fancy car or new home.  No… this is money so that I can live.

I didn’t think that $1 was much to ask for.  When I was more active on eBay, I used to always add a $1 donation to my payment, for whatever charity was being promoted.  Afterall, it was only $1, and enough $1s add up.  And each $1 I donated made me feel good – I was affecting a cause.

And that is what I thought about me… that the $1s would add up.

But my situation is just not reaching that far, or touching that many. And my $1s are just not adding up.

Yes, I too have had some Generous donations and I Do feel Very Blessed for them!  But they are long gone…  And its scary to think about discontinuing this treatment due to lack of finances.

I’m gonna really need to “step it up” to get some incoming generated.

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but when I get home after work, because of my condition and the medications, I’m so tired, I just crash.  So I have neglected my fundraising duty.

Gonna have to not crash and suck it up and do some work.

Hi Ho Hi Ho…
