Stalled

Last night (Sunday) was my last dose of Sodium Phenylbutrate… my last 8 pills from my August supply.  And my last dose of AmnioCare A10 (which appears to be a form of the Antineoplaston Therapy)… my last 2 pills from my August supply.  The last of my supply…

I haven’t been able to pay for my September supply yet.  I’m trying to get the money for September, but until I do, I’ll have to forego part of my treatment.  That’s kinda scary, expecially since I just had bloodwork done and am waiting the results.

Especially scary cuz “It has been shown (Samid 1992) that Phenylbutyrate arrests tumor growth and induces differentiation of pre-malignant and malignant cells through this non-toxic mechanism.” and “Phenylbutyrate has been shown to be a non-toxic differentiation inducer, promoting maturation of various types of malignant cells. Maturation makes the cells less aggressive, causing them to cease dividing and eventually die.

Let’s see that again… “makes the cells less aggressive, causing them to cease dividing and eventually die.

Yes – DIE.

Scary cuz I will have to go without until I can pay for September’s supply.

And after September…

October…
November
December…

I’ve said it before…

CANCER SUCKS.

AND SO DOES THE COST OF TREATMENT.

The Business of Cancer

I am astonished by the number of commercials on tv, and ads in magazines for cancer treatment centers…

Every evening on tv there are Multiple commercials for cancer centers… all telling how caring they are… how they have the newest and latest and greatest treatments…

But no cures.

Now Tell Me that cancer is Not Big Business?

Tell Me that a cure would Not affect this business…

Tell Me that an affordable cure would Not decimate this business?

Just Tell Me.

The Ups and Downs of Xeloda PAP

Dealing with the Roche Patient Assistance Foundation for Xeloda has been a Roller Coaster ride…

First I’m “preliminarily” approved via the initial phone interview

Then come to find out that I was denied

Then I appealed

Finally I was approved

And Now…

Yesterday morning at work (Friday), I got a letter from Roche stating that they felt I should have pursued another resource for financial assistance before I went to them.  They advised me to contact Texas Health and Human Resources requesting assistance.  If I apply and I am not approved, then Roche will reconsider my situation.

I have 30 days to do this.  After 30 days, my drug assistance for Xeloda will end.

WTHeck?

Fundraiser – A Little (Info) Help From My Friends…

Dear Friends,

I have been blessed with an Awesome opportunity for a breast cancer fundraiser. It’s something that will fairly “easy” for me to work at, accomplish a lot and should be fun for everyone.  And if it’s successful, then I’ll have some financial breathing room… so I’m Really Excited!

I do, however, need some Help From My Friends…

I need names of celebrities; these people have to be alive and functioning. Examples –

* Actors, directors, comedians…
* Artists, comic book creators / designers…
* Athletes – swimming, tennis, gymnastics, track…
* Authors…
* Cooks…
* Couples…
* Entrepreneurs…
* Game designers…
* Musicians – any genre of music
* NASCAR…
* Newscasters and interviewers…
* Politicians…
* Rodeo…
* Scientists, inventors…
* Sports teams / players – football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer…
* TV Personalities…
* ETC, ETC, ETC!

If the person might be considered a bit obscure, please identify who it is.

I need a well-rounded list and thought this would be the best way to get variety.

If you know of someone and have a means to contact them, please mention this via a private email, if necessary (denise@TeamDenise.org).

Ok, let’s see what y’all can come up with!!

Much Thanks and More to Come,

denise

August 2009 Bloodwork

So… I can stop being frustrated over my bloodwork, for now.

Had my August Bloodwork done today (this morning) – Finally!

Was done at North Cypress Medical Center, Outpatient Lab.  The staff was very nice… Angelique was the tech and tried to be gentle, but she had to take 6 vials, and by the 4th, it was getting just a bit… uncomfortable.  I can see a nice bruise there now and a raised bump at the site.  It’s bit tender too… wah wah wah  *lol*

I should have results back next week, and be able to compare to last time.

YAY!

September Meds

Its time to get my September meds from Burzynski Clinic, and I’m afraid that I don’t have the finances to cover the monthly cost.

August was a big hit to my funds, took $6,490.00 to keep going… first the cost of my monthly meds ($4,620), the PET/CT scan ($1,200), the Bone Scan ($360), the Zometa infusion ($310) and the monthly blood tests coming up (about $120).

And my lack of fundraising has also stalled things.  It’s just so difficult to try and do it all, all alone, especially when the medications make me So.Very.Tired…
so difficult, so disheartening, so tiring…
just.so.totally.overwhelming.

I have 2 days worth of meds left.
I need to come up with funds for September…

It’s not easy trying to Survive.

Antineoplaston Therapy

Here’s some interesting info on Antineoplaston Therapy, worth reading…

Antineoplastons: Complementary and alternative medicine – Patient Information [NCI PDQ]

Alternative Medicine Cancer Treatments:
Antineoplastons
National Cancer Institute Report
The antineoplastons have been considered an unconventional method of cancer treatment because there have been very few independent interpretable scientific data on their potential clinical efficacy.

I’m wondering if this AmnioCare A10 is a form of the Antineoplaston Therapy.. it kinda would appear that way…?
