BSGI Test – March 05 2009

Went to take my BSGI Test – Breast-Specific Gamma Imaging

Technology is Just Amazing!

Location:
North Cypress Medical Center

The Women’s Breast Center

21216 Northwest Freeway, Suite 220

Cypress, Texas 77429

832-912-3632

Due to my situation (no insurance), the cost was $about $350 – I got a discounted rate called “Fee for Service”. Is still a $$$ hit for me…

The prep for the procedure itself was relatively easy. I knew I’d be getting some type of injection of radioactive liquid (called “trace”), then wait a short period of time, then get the test.

I sat in a medical chair and got the shot intravenously, then I was brought to a room with a machine that resembled a mammogram. I had to take 4 separate poses, 2 for each breast, and each pose was 10 minutes. I had to keep very still during this time, and it was kinda difficult cuz my boobs were being squished. But I knew I needed to do this, so did it I did. There was a screen, so we (me and Mom) were able to watch the image forming.

It was the first time I got to see “The Monster”. It’s Ugly and it’s Scary.

And I Hope we caught it in time.

Having 9 months wasted on incorrect treatment is Really Really Scary to me.

I’m not sleeping well, have high anxiety and have been somewhat bitchy, to say the least.

I hate this.

I pretty much know what the results are gonna be, but still hope they show Something good.

Good Story on BSGI Test:

Also got to meet Dr. Casimir, the Dr who will be supervising my chemo treatment (at Northwest Cancer Center).  She seems nice, but not too personal, kinda distant.  I guess it’s difficult to get close to patients when you don’t know what their outcome is gonna be.  Hopefully, the PET Scan will show that my situation has been caught in time…

Originally, I was supposed to be getting chemo treatment close to the hospital that Dr. Keller is associated with (North Cypress Medical Center).  The Cancer Center has a “branch” at the NCMC site, but there is a center much closer to my home that I will be going to – Northwest Cancer Center. I believe Dr. Casimir is primarily at this location.

I am NOT looking forward to any of this, but I know it needs to be done.
